Forget for a moment the 'off season in Ibiza' selling point: The quiet before the summer storm - the stunning coves, tranquil beaches - with only the occasional dog walker sharing your space. Travel off the beaten track, to be awed by the ludicrously lush tapestry of wild flowers, bright green grass, Matisse blue skies and ruby red soil. Like something out of a Zeffirelli film, the bounty is almost overwhelming. This was my lunchtime view - on a gorgeously warm day - reasons to be cheerful indeed. The famous Almond Blossom may have died back, but from now until at least late May, more and more varieties of wild flowers can be discovered. They won't solve the world's ailments, but they will make you forget them for a brief moment - guaranteed!
