Ibiza has been known for its art and artists for decades. These days there is an awful lot of tat, but also some gems and this is one of them. The building is stunning in its simplicity and style. An old salt warehouse, that has been taken over by a wealthy American benefactor and until 30th September, he is showing some of his Keith Haring collection. Drive past the famous Salinas Jockey Club and other busy, busy beach restaurants, to this oasis of calm and style. Beautifully conceived and with a friendly and informative curator. Entry is free. Next summer, there's a rumour of Basquiat. A lot of the really good galleries have closed, but you will still find a couple in Ibiza Town. PArt on the Ibiza/Santa Eularia road has regular exhibitions - personal praise for V Ray's work of Salinas (www.virginiarayart.com). The Micus gallery outside Jesus, is worth a mention, if only for its stunning architecture (open Sundays - until 14.00) You will also find a small gallery in St Josep and various restaurants - to name just a few - Lamuella, The Orange Tree, Can Tixiendo, KM5 - all have exhibitions, ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous. There are also two art magazines, profiling local artists and various art evenings in some of the towns. Go home with a gorgeous souvenir!
